Trucker is:
Todd Johnson - Guitar
Tom Barletta - Percussion
Wayne Rasmuss - Bass
In June of '98 Todd, Tom, and Wayne had their first practice together as Trucker. The band likes to think of ourselves as a unique blend of rock/pop/and maybe a touch of blues, or as one has said "the partridge family on crack". Whatever they are or will become, Trucker can promise you a good show. The music they play isn't about what's the in fad or the new thing, it is a combination of all things in life. Happiness, Hate, Love, and LIVING!
Trucker released a 4 song album in February 2000, which is a preview of the full-length album to be released in the summer. If you'd like a copy of the 4 song album, send the band an e-mail or pick it up at an upcoming show for $5.
Last month, Trucker was selected to appear on the nationally televised show Farmclub.com. Read the press release below for more details!
Trucker to Appear on USA Network in April
Farmclub.com Hosts Nationwide Contest, Picks Lawrence Band
LAWRENCE, KS (March 20, 2000) — USA Networks recently selected
Lawrence-based band, Trucker, to be its newest band to appear on
Farmclub.com TV, a weekly telecast of unsigned bands from around the
world. Trucker taped the show last week in Los Angeles, which is
scheduled to air on USA on April 17 at 10 p.m. (CST).
"Being on Farmclub.com TV is great exposure for our band and our
music," said Todd Johnson, Trucker's lead vocalist and guitar player.
"It was a great opportunity for us because we were introduced to
several record producers and the audience at the taping session was
really responsive to our music."
Trucker taped the Farmclub.com TV show in front of a live audience
along side such acts as Smash Mouth, No Doubt, The Bloodhound Gang
and Enrique Iglesias.
"It was great to hear and see the other performers," said Johnson.
"But the one thing that sticks out in my mind is the fact that the
staff at Farmclub.com went out of their way to make us feel
important. Bottom line is we were treated like all the other talent,
it didn't matter that we haven't had a major release!"
Farmclub.com is the only online community where artists and music
lovers can get together and help influence which songs we'll all be
listening to. Bands from all over the world are able to upload their
music and join the portfolio of new and unique talent.
Visitors go to the site, listen to the music tracks and vote on the
spot for their favorite track. Trucker's "Go Out" was number one for
several weeks, before winning the contest. The track is from
Trucker's first EP, which was engineered and produced by j. hall at
Wheeler Audio in Kansas City.
Over 100 new unsigned bands will be showcased this year on the site's
weekly TV show, Farmclub.com TV. The show is hosted by MTV's Matt
Pinfield and coverage on Farmclub.com artists will also be shown on
MTV.
Not only will the artists be featured weekly on Farmclub.com TV, but
someone's going to get a record deal! Farmclub.com is the internet
site for the record label Serious Records Limited, a subsidiary of
Interscope Records which is owned by Universal Music Group.
Trucker is a tight three-piece combo with roots in the past, but an
eye towards the future. They have forgone the gimmicks to concentrate
on good, old-fashioned song writing and solid musicianship. Trucker
pays tribute to their rock-and-roll idols, while creating an entirely
new sound.
With influences from The Beatles and Creedence Clearwater Revival to
Nirvana and The Pixies, Trucker has built a strong musical
foundation. Trucker is Todd Johnson, vocals and guitar; Wayne
Rasmuss, bass; and Tom Barletta, drums. Formed three years ago, the
band has been hard at work developing original songs and generating a
strong following in the Midwest. Lead by Todd Johnson's unique vocal
stylings, Trucker combines classic rock, modern rock, and blues to
create a sound that is all their own. They have been winning over
audiences throughout the region.
