Rubber - "Rubber"
reviewed by Joe

Rubber - Not enough Funky, Rockin' bands out there for you? Look no further than Lawrence, Kansas homeboys Rubber. Chock full of funk, fun, rock and awesome production courtesy of guitar/vocalist Robert Rebeck, chief justice of Mercy Recording Studios. From riff one, this 17 (gasp!) track release bristles with clever arrangements and chunky/glassy guitar juxtapositions. Truly there is something for everyone on this disc: 70's funk, groovy riffs, power chords and crystal clear vocals.

There is no dull trip here, and I caught influences ranging from .38 special to Alice in Chains without ever dropping the groove. A stone groove, man. Tight, energetic and full of thick slabby bass and chunky guitars.
