Cooker - "Cooker"
reviewed by Joe

cover We (Danielle and I) saw Cooker awhile ago at the Madhouse Haunted House, and it was a show they probably hope we've forgotten. As soon as I checked out their latest release, I couldn't even draw comparisons to that night and this disc. Its full of heavy, hook-laden riffing and soft/quiet/soft dynamic song structures. Cooker have been hard at work it would seem, crafting and perfecting their art, because the sloppiness I witnessed that night at the Madhouse is nowhere to be found on this disc. Tight and energetic, this release convinces me to check them out live at least one more time.

If you're a fan of Bush, Failure, Prong, Foo Fighters, or Nirvana, then there's something here for you. The only criticism I have for Cooker is to get rid of the song that talks about being a dork and a roach. Your self-abasement embarasses the listener.
