Local Radio Stations
One of the best things you can do for your band is to get airplay on your local radio stations (or TV), and out of all the stations in the area, only a handful have been continually supportive of local bands and feature local music on a regular basis. The stations listed below want you to send them local music!

KDVV 100.3 (Topeka V100) is starting a new show on Sunday nights hosted Jeff Petterson (formerly of the Lazer). As the new Program Director, he is bringing local music back to the airwaves. The show will run from 8pm - 12am and will feature new national stuff, local music, rock rarities, odds and ends, and a live concert to wrap up the show. Local bands, send CDs or DAT to:

The Lazer's Local Music Show (Sunday 8-11pm) is now being run by Elena, who used to be program director of KJHK and did their punk show for 5 years. and the show is on Sunday nights. I have also taken over Future Mass Hysteria. Local bands should send their info to her at:

This is the radio station of the University of Kansas. During almost all their specialty shows and their normal "college rock" format, they give local groups plently of airplay. The station also hosts a show dedicated to local music every Friday from 6-8pm called "Plow the Fields". Local bands can send their CDs and information to:

90.1 KKFI Community Radio
Another station, based in the heart of Westport in Kansas City, is KKFI 90.1 Community Radio. Their programming consists of every type of music you can think of, especially jazz and eclectic/progressive rock. The music director there is Craig Rastorfer, who also hosts an Alternative/Rock show every Thursday night from 10:00 to 12:30am. Not only does Craig play a large amount of local music every week, but because it is community radio, local music is incorporated greatly throughout all the programs. 91.9 KSDB The Wildcat
91.9 KSDB out of Manhattan KS has a local music show every Tuesday from 7-8pm. They play all genres of music from the area and are looking for new music.
